Good common sense post. And timing = impeccable.
Just dropped off some batteries and a Stars & Stripes that will be end-of-life processed correctly courtesy of the SWA of Palm Beach County and the good Vets @ the American Legion. Had some tours in EHS as well as manufacturing, mostly in Silicon Valley, so I've seen/heard/rolled my eyes aplenty and more important, had to in Spike Lee-speak “do the right thing” in order to accomplish corporate objective #1: Make Money, with the caveat don’t let our peeps get hurt or trash Mother Nature.
66 Mustang? I’m still down w/my ’84 Spider Veloce which per spec needs 90+ octane.
Meat? Had an All American Beef Burger (8 oz) w/Cheddar yesterday @ Green’s Pharmacy Luncheonette. JFK and Jackie went there so I count myself in good company. And I've also read (and thank) Upton Sinclair.
(Dirty) Air Travel Air? Yes/No/Bait & Switch. The plane, the plane Fantasy Island-ing: saw many a C-Suite-ee fly solo out of SJC while others, fortunately, had the good sense to put (Angel Flight) wings on their birds. And short of an integrated solution, keeping pollutants out of the air often just means diverting to the ocean or ground/landfill. As for scientists (real/activist/pseudo/otherwise) that want to arm wrestle, they should first French w/Antoine Lavoisier i.e., conservation of mass and then go figure out ways to implement cost-effective "Zero Waste" / emissions.
Tesla? Drove by their factory on 880 for years. They all know it takes a fuel (often fossil) source to juice the battery, with disposal eventually pending.
Solar? Solyndra. (Was) also on 880 and still have the auction/fire sale booklet (published after ‘44’s visit).
Biowaste (financial and otherwise)? Theranos on Gateway. Walked a click w/a co-worker to watch an as of today front runner and then VP and caravan (eventually) get snookered.
Taxes (Carbon/Sales/VAT/Subtract/Others)? But only for those w/a Debt Clock that spins in reverse.
Wind, hydro and nuke? These admittedly anecdotal musings are too long already.
Lots more behind the curtain of some (but certainly not all) green-speak. As for a CEO (and Mother Earth’s) actual ROI, the math is often sketchy, with the caveat there are a lot of good (and smart) products/services/initiatives, more are needed, transportation systems that make sense, blah blah blah. As for California’s bullet train. Oh well.
Is AOC’s Doomsday Clock right (well actually left), who knows. The only environmental sense that makes sense = common sense.
Not saying that Hollywood knows what they’re talking about but sometimes they do share an emerald about the benefits of going green. Kathleen Turner's (Serial Mom) recycling acumen helped acquit her from the (movie) charge of serial murder. And as Jeff Goldblum proved in Independence Day, there is always time to recycle, even during an alien invasion --and-- still have time to save the earth! (both YouTube links = proof positive).
Moi all wet on this? Maybe so. Trying to distill these issues into a nutshell usually belongs there. And to any naysayers that dismiss EVERYTHING as being a hoax, have a nice day and a swim in the GPGP (link). Most folks I know have already (correctly) figured it out and simply ignore the nonsensical (in OSHA-speak) noise (pollution) that gets far too much airplay.

E it's really funny that Jane Fonda lives in a state that has high Sulphur oil just like Alberta. She should be protesting the oil at stopped at Hollywood High that is located close to her chateau.
