I came home 100%SC My Family talked behind my back, called me crazy, but for those who lacked the courage to raise their right hand, walk a mile in my boots, experience what I experienced, then you can make judgments

Amen SGT Michael Hearn, I went to a veterans events where we could wear our uniforms. And I was talking to another veteran and an elderly couple came up and shook the hand of the Male veteran. As I waited politely thinking I would get a hand shake the old man just turned and his wife gave me a look of discussed.
The other vet and I looked at each other and he said to me “Did that just really happen?!” I was like I guess it did.
Talk about not feeling welcomed back home. I took my uniform off that night and never put it back on for any event that let us put our uniforms on.
I only assume the world isn’t ready for female vets who served outside of answering the phone or medical areas.
And forget the praise from my family, I’m a product of the Jones & Smiths! If you didn’t come back with some medal pinned on you by the President your service is non existent. :(
I just learned to keep my circle of family and friends small. I know what I did, and those few in garrison know also.
Welcome home, and we’re all friends here. Unless of course there’s a political soup sandwich debate on TV lol.... then we fight each other lol.

No one being narrowed minded will exempt you from serving. Ever heard this one. A opinion everybody has one, Like an asshole. But he don't have to be one.

SFC (Join to see) - Your uniform is a badge of honor, that few have the brass balls to wear No pun intended .I had people disrespect me on the street in 1973 and 74, in my uniform L would quietly asked them do you wear pink underwear. Look at at them like I was one mean green fighting machine.
