The Journalists of Annapolis MD, Capital Gazette newspaper who were attacked while working in their newsroom on June 28, 2018 were remembered at a mass held in chapel of the Holy Spirit at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y. The shooting left five dead and two injured.
The celebrant Fr. James Rebeta, CSC delivered a homily with themes of service to community, duty, sacrifice, and forgiveness. He was assisted by cocelebrant Col. Matt Pawlikowski, chaplain at the United States Military Academy. The mass was organized by White Plains based Sons of the American Legion Radio a media group which covers football and many events at West Point, realized it covered the Army-Navy game and other events with staff from the Gazette.
The names of two West Point alumni and two cadets who died recently were read as well as those of two soldiers who died in Afghanistan.
Participating lectors were Kate Collins, Ken Kraetzer and Col. Pawlikowski.
