I've seen this decried by people who like the decision but don't like the idea that there are people on the Court willing to overturn precedent. I think they fail to realize that cases are wrongly decided with some frequency, and a willingness to revisit precedent when it's resulting in injustice (as was the case here) is a good thing. Of course, people who are thinking politically, rather than looking at justice, are going to complain when someone on "the other side" is overturning precedent, because "OMG, they might overturn a precedent we like!"
To people who complain about overturning precedent, I like to point out cases like this, without mentioning prior precedent, and see how they think the court *should* rule.
