Elizabeth II was crowned on this date, 2 June 1953. We watched it on our tiny black and white TV screens just hours after the actual events. The raw film was flown in a WWII surplus P-51 Mustang from London to New York where it was processed and edited on the fly as it was broadcast. Imagine that, just hours! [Thought I might share this for those who have never had less than instant access to everything in the palms of their hands]

I was seven years old and recall seeing it on our black and white tv as well.

I was four, CPT Jack Durish, so I’m confident this wasn’t on my radar. My mother was 28 years old, and I like to think she watched the film with excitement!
