My wife uses the VAMC. She is happy with them. We both started back when we were RVing. It was just more convenient.

I know our old Orlando VAMC facility had a "women's health" unit, which occupied a small, isolated part of one floor. How extensive was the care in that unit? I am sure that there is also a "women's health" unit in our new facility, but how extensive is their care? Our facility suffers from chronic-understaffing, and that probably goes double for a "women's health" unit, because many women, particularly those who have been abused, are deathly-afraid of male medical-care providers, regardless of their role. One friend of mine refuses to go to a male doctor for anything below the neck unless it is an absolute-emergency.
It may be less about whether care is available, than who is providing that care, particularly when a person doesn't get to pick their care-provider. Nobody likes "luck-of-the-draw" in care-providers, and that goes double for the ladies.

For my mom, because she didn't think she deserved it despite three honorable years of service. For my friend, because the VA clerks would ask why isn't her husband coming in to check in for her appointments.
