As long as the person that is doing the APFT is physically fit, and in good to great shape, they shouldn't have an issue with the test, thankfully I'm retired.

I have now taken the ACFT twice, I failed the first time (zero leg tucks) but a month later when I took it again I did ten leg tucks and passed with a 480/600 (not one person has maxed the ACFT yet). If you practice what you're deficient at then you will be fine. I was talking with a CSM the other day and he said "I believe wherever we set the standard everyone will go to. If the standard for push ups now was 50 instead of 42, everyone would be getting 50 push ups."

Congrats on bouncing back from a failure, trainign and succeeding. That is a trait that is becoming less and less prevalent in newer generations. Failure is not bad, everyone fails at something. A proper response to failure is what allows you to grow as a person and in your career. Again, great job in your proper response to your failure.

Everything will be fine. We will adapt like we do for any other change. The naysayers will do just fine as well, they just aren't used to having to train for functional fitness as part of their employment requirements.

I agree, I look forward to it, I think it better demonstrates a soldier's combat fitness/readiness.

I teach school, so I don't think I have much to worry about. Police, fire, possibly construction or truck driving I think would have more to worry about.
