Wow, the Navy sure treated this ex-chief with kid gloves. For all the stuff he did, he only got 60 days brig time, loss of one stripe and a fine? If I'd have done what he did, I'd have gotten six, six and a kick with a BCD. The Navy must be really short of EOD specialists if it's letting him stay in. I presume he doesn't have enough active duty time to retire, or he'd be forced to retire. When he gets out (retirement or other), I can only hope the Navy tacks that 60 days brig time onto the end of his active duty as "bad time."

He's losing lots of pay, both on active duty and when he retires. If he hadn't plead guilty to a plea deal, he would have received much worse.

If he passed the 18 year mark, they can't kick him out. That was the way it happened back in the day, unless they changed the rules. The rule prevented the Navy from kicking out a senior enlisted right before he was eligible to be transferred to the fleet reserve. You don't rewrite till you high 30 years (20 years active and 10 years fleet reserve). This way while you're in the fleet reserve, they can send you orders back to active duty if needed. After 30, your free and clear.
