Seems there is always an elite, upper, or whatever you want to call it in almost all societies no matter what form of government they are under.

Here's what I "like" about "socialism"... the extension of the notion that we are indeed our brother's keeper; the concept that to whom much is given, much is required, and the principle that many hands make light work.
Here's what I "hate" about "socialism"... it "passes the buck" of social responsibility to the least qualified people to exercise it-i.e., the Government. It removes any incentives for achievement, since by definition, it seeks to remove class distinction. Finally, it encourages society to accept mediocrity and obscurity in exchange for a "guaranteed" minimum sustainability.
Let's be honest, NEITHER capitalism or socialism have ever proved to be perfect...neither are any "pure" forms of either being actuated or proposed here in the U.S.A. I'd offer that we have a blend of both, and that the real threat would be moving towards extreme forms of either motivated by resentment, fear, or uncertainty.
