We assigned our various support units, to the smaller villages around the base; as most were Navy and Airforce, so they were a bit out of their element on the ground.... but the shorter trips were 'safe enough' for them to accompany us on.

What happened after that rotation out? Has that friendship lasted?

It continued for at least the next two support team rotations.....

However, we pulled US forces out of RC-West a few years later, and the train/advise/assist mission for this region became a NATO op....

No clue how well the relationship lasted after that.
