My dad's side of the family came here probably in the 1850s escaping the Potato Famine. Times have changed.
It's funny how even in the country songs from groups like Los Tigres del Norte sing like a cry baby saying that in their song that the land that we want to go to used to be part of Mexico. That was prior to 1848. My mother immigrated legally from Honduras. She did immigration work for over 25 years helping illegal aliens come in Legally through following the framework of the u.s. immigration service at the time and the state department. People had to wait 7 years to come in and be a legal residence even if they were already here illegally due to having kids or other factors. The mentality of many of these illegals from Mexico is that they should be granted voting status, immigration status and citizenship as soon as they get across the border. The stupid liberal bleeding heart and messed up California government doesn't make it any better because the state now has rules where they go against the federal government and help legal white Hillbillies, Hobo's, welfare Queens can set up Homestead in alleys, at Venice Beach, and the Santa Ana River Valley or anywhere and police can't move them . Going back to immigration, it is not fair for all the other ones who've applied legally over the years and who have waited years. Mexico probably makes up this percentage of those are illegal aliens and you have illegal aliens from Ireland, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia who use Mexico and Canada to come in illegally to the USA.
