One of my ancestors was killed by an Indian attack in West Virginia. I'm waiting for my check. Am also waiting for my check to compensate my family to our involvement in fighting slavery in the Civil War on behalf of Ohio.

So to give out money the government would first have to take it from someone else. Would it be right for the government to take money from people whose ancestors were not in this country until after the civil war and whose ancestors had nothing to do with slavery in the old country? You’d be charging people money just because of the color if their skin. That is not right.

Don't quote me on it, but I believe the USA has already paid out compensations. And using the Nazi Germany/Switzerland version as an example of compensation, it worked out to about $6000 for each dead Holocaust victim, of which all of that was taxed. Living Holocaust victims got $3000. Jews that assisted the Nazi's got nothing.

(Update) - no, the USA government has been discussing it and apologized but has not paid money.
