I have been so impressed with the "Picture Of The Day" posted by our friend Maj William W. 'Bill' Price , that I thought that I would Post a very interesting short NASA video of "Ceres", a dwarf planet in our solar system, which resides in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. This video was taken from the "DAWN" spacecraft. Here are some basic facts about "Ceres", from Wikipedia:
"Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt that lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, slightly closer to Mars's orbit. With a diameter of 945 km, Ceres is the largest of the minor planets and the only dwarf planet inside Neptune's orbit. It is the 33rd-largest known body in the Solar System.
- Radius: 293.91 mi
- Orbital period: 1,682 days
- Mass: 8.958 × 10^20 kg
