The narcissist twits who wrote the Microsoft letter think that Soldiers are "distanced from the grim stakes of war and the reality of bloodshed." I think this letter is a grim reflection on our nation's educational institutions from K-12 through university and upon the poor job many Americans have done in parenting. I mean, if you're smart enough to work in tech, then you obviously are not learning-disabled, but if you are so clueless to hold the beliefs expressed in the Microsoft letter, then you must be operating on a worldview that is completely from fantasyland.
I'm in favor of a peacetime quasi-draft: Serve 4 years honorably in active service in a regular component, or 10 years honorably drilling in a reserve/guard component, or you don't get to vote until you turn 45. (It will never, ever happen. Just saying.)
