I had a back injury for years from a training accident. Suffered spasms and the such until I started Yoga. Not a lot, just a few exercises that are back specific, and I have never had issues since. No pain meds, no debilitating pain.

The yoga workout probably does and helps the body more than doing pushups, situps and a two mile run.
