Have I not been paying attention? Did someone else already post that today, 19 Feb 2019, is the 75th Anniversary of the Battle for Iwo Jima? We can't let that pass without acknowledging it, can we? I have sat with Iwo Vets, broken bread with them, and listened to their stories (some of the most harrowing and thrilling that I've heard).

CPT Jack Durish A older fellow Marine and friend fought there.The locals never understood the friendship we shared,our age difference being one factor.He was obnoxious and aggressive,while i presented myself as reserved and passive.Many times i was called to restrain him from engaging in fights or destroying property.He would calm down almost immediately when i appeared.I always believed it was mutual respect that allowed him to let me lead and help him.Anyway,I will never forget him or any of his companions.
