Ilhan Omar admits she will not assimilate and will not respect American culture

She is correct in her statement that America is a melting pot. Our culture has been formed by the combining of many.

Not uncommon among 1st Generation immigrants, what we see happening though is 2nd and 3rd generation cave-in and eventually assimilate. We have not had a single population group that moved to the United States that had not assimilated by the third generation. One of the biggest reasons of course is we do not accomodate them otherwise. Example: we don't allow speaking of Somali instead of English by government employees, we don't change our road signs to be Somali, We don't insist on school books being written in Somali and English. So the accomodation part is what we need to keep an eye on as a society. Additionally, we want to keep a lid on immigration numbers so that the 1st generation immigration cohort doesn't become so large that it is able to influence U.S. Laws. Either one of those two items would be a threat to our melting pot.
