So, the state police knew a person was unlawfully in possession of a firearm, sent a letter demanding he surrender it...... Hmmmmm.
I just figured out how to save billions in the war on drugs.
Mail letters to everyone informing them that use and possession of illicit substances is unlawful and they are required to surrender those illicit substances and themselves to the nearest LEO or LE facility. If more than 20 people are in line, they can schedule appointments.

More laws vs enforcement of current laws - however I'd like to know when and how he was issued a FOID card.

Great question. How is it that politicians drone on about universal background checks while the current system has shown us time after time of being inadequate. There is also no accountability with any of these failures. I personally believe it is purposeful and by design.

I would agree on this being toothless legislation as its rarely enforced - however as David Rhein found out - you mouth off to a politician the state police will be over within the hour to take your guns.

How did he ever get a FOID card (which is required to purchase a firearm and ammunition in Illinois) with a felony conviction?
