Often our memories are short in the thoughts of history.. and so we tend to not recall this portion of history that changed everything. From this the power shifted - to Spain and to Egypt and to the Turks.. and none have ever been able to bring the structure back again as was.

The Mongols wanted tributes instead of land. If a palace, town, or city chose to fight, they were wiped out.
