What, is evangelical the buzzword these days? These people wouldn't know evangelical Christians from Westboro Baptist church. But whatever, I'll take it point by point.
1. Christianity is a religion. No evangelical would ever say otherwise. The religion does in fact revolve around your relationship to Christ but still, it's a religion.
2. There are certainly differences between the Old and New testaments. And there were changes in ceremonial and sacrificial laws. But moral laws never changed. Homosexuality was wrong in the old AND new testaments. Most Christians who are uncomfortable with the "hard parts" of the OT are probably struggling themselves with their view of God.
3. God is not a genie in a bottle. He's not here to grant your wishes. The Bible teaches us to pray for His will, not ours to be done. Even Christ did this.
4. Oh yes, being selfless really warps the mind. These people are grasping at straws now.
5. I was wrong about #4. This IS grasping. This point simply states that Christians should be humble and then goes on a rant. Very compelling indeed. smh
6. Christianity did more for the liberation of women than anyone or anything else. Read some history for once.
7. Incorrect. The Bible does not say you have the ability to believe. It says that faith is a gift from God. He either gives it to you or He doesn't. It has nothing to do with you.
8. Once again if you'll open the Bible and read you'll see that God loves those He's called (see #7). His chosen people are His that he loved and He called to Himself.
9. Go ahead and look up all the references to free will in the Bible. Go ahead, I'll wait. You won't find free will anywhere in the Bible. Christians worship God because they are born again which literally means their nature has changed.
10. This too is wrong. The Bible says to test things that you are unsure of. Not to ignore them.

Bottom line is that the writer of this article is simply attacking Christians because she probably disagrees with some stuff in the Bible. But again, whatever. I suppose we should all just look to her in order to see what is right and what is wrong (that's what most atheists think). Surely she has it all figured out and no minds will be warped.

You forget that author is a former evangelical Christian and that history of our religion involved harsh condemnation from previous believers.

One example was Martin Luther. He was a 16th century Catholic priest in Germany. He openly criticized and later left the church after he saw mass corruption and hypocrisy from senior clerical leadership. He later formed his own church and was a forerunner of Protestant Christianity.

Some of the author's arguments appear to be reflective of ancient times.

LTC Eugene Chu Yes sir, I'm very familiar with Luther and the issues he faced. I've never said that the history of Christianity (or its leaders) were spotless. But this article wasn't challenging theology as Luther did. He did it with the Bible. This lady simply said Christianity warps your brain. Her motives were clear.
