The Foucault Pendulum is well known to me, SGT (Join to see), and I've actually observed one in motion! The University of Louisville (KY) has one in Grawemeyer Hall and it's a treat to watch. Unlike Foucault's original design, this pendulum knocks over small, clear plexi-glass cylinders placed in a circle beneath the dome.
In the attached link you'll find a video of the pendulum in motion as well as a PDF that explains operation of the pendulum in great detail and includes many photos.

I've been on the U of L campus more times than I can count, LTC John Shaw! Many years ago my then employer provided the preponderance of group benefits (life, health, disability, etc.) to the school. They were a large, long time and valued account and I made many trips from Cincinnati to Louisville to take care of our client!
I've always liked Louisville, but I do prefer my alma mater, Auburn University. The two schools squared off in the Georgia Dome on September 5, 2015 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. Happy to say the Tigers came away with the victory! WAR EAGLE!

LTC Stephen C. - Yes, that was a butt kicking exercise and my Cards need to learn to compete. We have dropped off and in the rebuild mode. Auburn is a great school and great traditions with that 'other' Alabama school.

PO1 Tony Holland - It's still there, Tony; as far as I know. It's in the Academy of Sciences. (in Golden Gate Park.)
