COL Mikel J. Burroughs COL, While I have no respect at all for norman, I have the greatest respect for General Powell. I only wish that he would run for the office of President. I would cross ANY party line to vote for him. It seems to me that he cares about people, and he genuinely cares about our country. Thank you for posting this story!

SFC William Farrell I am never a fan of a bully who had "gone native" and so fully encamped with the Muslim leaders in the middle east. A leader inspires good people to follow. A manager orders them and expects it. It was widely said that morale was high and all the troops were happy to be there and "just wanted to do my job and go home". The fact is, that norman the pompous manner ordered us to say those exact words. A leader is inspiring. A leader needs not handcuff those who are led in order to lead them. Manylives and careers were ruined over his cowardly general order number 1. It was and it remains a crutch for poor leaders to keep the troops under their control. I never had difficulty adhering to the order in spite of the nearly six years I spent in theater. He was never the leader that General Powell was and is. He couldnt hold a candle, and was not qualified to hold his horse. I hope that answers your question.
