From the DoD: "It is critical that DoD be permitted to implement personnel policies that it determines are necessary to ensure the most lethal and combat effective fighting force in the world." This, and only this, should be the motivation behind this. The military isn't a civic or social club. It's not something you get to do just because you want to. There is a lot of evidence that shows that transgendered people have a lot of mental/psychological/emotional issues that they struggle with which could impact the strength of the service. This is nothing new. Quadriplegics can't join the military. 60 year-olds can't join the military. It's not about saying "you can't join because you're different". It's about maintaining the lethality of the military. If the evidence one day suggests that transgendered people do not in fact suffer from the aforementioned issues, then I'd expect this to be reversed.

The evidence to my transgender battle buddies fighting in Afghanistan says different sir. I get to witness it first hand over here in Afghanistan.

1SG (Join to see) - I'm not saying transgendered people can or can't serve in the same capacity as others. I'm saying that evidence exists to support the decision and that this decision, while viewed as 'intolerant' in 2019, is not unheard of at all. I'm not a policy maker. My opinions on matters like this mean nothing. If transgendered people are allowed to serve and one is assigned to my company, that person will be treated with dignity and respect. The fact that you have witnessed something to the contrary of the evidence does not refute the evidence in its entirety. As I've already stated, if the evidence IS refuted, I expect the decision to be reversed.
