The cultural mindset that men suppress emotions and don't seek help is exactly why for so long there was, and to a lesser degree still is, a stigma about male soldiers seeking help for PTSD. And why so many soldiers refused to seek out help. The cultural underpinnings were that "real men" don't get mental problems from war; they suck it up and drive on. If Johnny can see all those horrible things and come home just fine, why cant you? Are you mentally weaker than Johnny? And they sure don't go and see some pansy shrink to talk about their feelings.

SSG Diane R. - if you feel no sense of responsibility to not pass on false information to your fellow vets, that's certainly your right. I guess it's easier to just pass off the BS to them and expect them to research the facts, rather than take the time to check if something you are posting is true in the first place.
And I noticed you didn't comment about the guidelines. Did you even bother to look at them? Do you really think those guidelines are harmful to our society, as you claimed in your post?
