This bit of history is simply so sad... And Americans to this day don’t often get why TSA is such a hassle or pain in the @ss when you travel!

Since this Pan Am flight left from Heathrow it would be the British equivalent - that said, while I have traveled extensively recently and always show respect for the TSA staff, there is evidence out there that they could be doing a better job.

SGT Kevin Berman Kevin, the ability to do ones job is often shown less when there are rights involved. Secondly, because we have rights as citizens when no other country cares of those rights, TSA cannot be as effective - meaning “we care about your feelings and rights” continues to make us vulnerable! I myself feel we are too lax with the whole rights issues and travel in this country!

SGT Jim Ramge, MBA - Not wholly disagreeing with you. I'm less concerned about the screening passengers go through - which as long as the technicians are trained properly on the machines - than I am with luggage screening that goes on down below. That's the area I have read reports needs tightening up.

That is an interesting article. It says al-magrahi was sentenced to twenty-seven years but out of compassion released after only eight. Not much justice for 270 innocent people blown out of the sky in less than a minute.
