I wonder if the officer who shook his hand at the beginning was thinking, "Why is he still wearing greens?"

Foreign nations can and do award medals to American service folk for "jobs well done," valor, etc. Last one I can think of is the Kuwaiti minted medal to honor those who helped liberate the area from Iraq.
