I enjoyed taking a peek at the USS Arkansas, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel. My father, Jack Curlee, served on USS LST-78 (one of the earliest ones commissioned, so no name) during WWII and he posted many photos (well, really I did it!) on the Navsource website. If you scroll to the bottom and you'll see where you can click on Crew Photos. You'll find he posted many photos there as well.

LTC Stephen C. LTJG Jack Curlee would have been the XO to that Vessel.

Actually, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, my father was the engineering officer and an ensign during most of his time aboard the 78, being promoted to LTJG on 1JAN46, as they prepared to decommission the ship in San Francisco. The CO was a lieutenant (O-3). In the Crew Photo section, there’s a photo of my father with the XO.
