Retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal's advice to leaders: Be more humble

Not letting them make a caricature of himself on Netflix.

A good leader sets an excellent example, is balanced, is compassionate, respects his/her subordinates more than his/herself, and it certainly helps a good leader and said leader's subordinates if the leader is faithful.

Be effective. It is very underrated in this modern world of trying to make everyone feel good. People want to win, they want success and opportunities to grow themselves. Effective leaders that drive their organizations forward who produce results create those opportunities for others. Nothing creates more leaders like effective, successful leaders. They may not necessarily be humble or kind or warm and fuzzy. Think Ford, Welch, Gates, Jobs, Patton, Puller, Rommel etc.
