If true then the same standard that they have for lower ranks should apply to them, that star should not be a free pass.

Doesn’t matter, does a flag officer have an exemption from pt requirements of the average soldier? Even the females are held to standards. If there is an is a difference, State it and no problem . If there is such an exemption, it’s news to me.

File that in the "duh" category. The only officer I saw wearing stars in my time on the 2 way range was MG John Campbell when he was head of TF 101 and CG of the 101st.
