This is what happens when religious text are used to create laws. While extreme cases like this, especially when concerning islam get a lot of publicity, similar examples of unfair laws in the US don't normally get as much attention. For example, it wasn't until 2003 that the Supreme Court (and it took the Supreme Court to do it) overturned the Texas sodomy laws in the Lawrence vs Texas case. And why would oral and anal sex be illegal in Texas for same sex consenting adults in the privacy of their own home, but not for two people of different sexes doing the same physical act? Yep, because the bible says it's a bad thing, so the good christians made it into a law that applies to everyone, christians or not.
So while it seems unfair and strange that a country would have laws that apply to and punish people of a different religion for things that are only bad in the eyes of another religion, we in the US also have fallen into that trap. I am against laws like the ones in Pakistan that put this woman in jail; I am also against laws in the US that criminalize behavior only because the bible says it is bad behavior.

If she does not get out of Pakistan her life will be in jeopardy. They are already calling for the death of the judges who acquitted her.

Just let that sink in. She drank from a cup a muslim woman wanted to use. She has been in prison for 8 years and had a death sentence for blasphemy and getting an acquittal has the practitioners of the religion of peace demanding her death. With friends like Pakistan we hardly need any enemies.
This is not a mob, this is their legal system meting out "justice".

Capt Gregory Prickett - Nice try Greg. The Spanish Inquisition started in the 1400's, it is now 2018. So let's call it 550 years ago. The world has advanced in most places quite nicely. Places like Pakistan are the exception. What does one have to do with the other anyway? Nothing is the answer to the question. Another what aboutsim a half a millennium later. Your religious bigotry shines through as usual. I am surprised RP let's you get away with it. If your attacks were aimed at Jews, Muslims or a race of people you would likely be out of here. They seem to give a free pass on bigots that hate Christendom.

Capt Gregory Prickett - When it (Islam) was created doesn't matter Greg. It is still 2018. The world has moved forward. We have a half of a millennium of enlightenment and advancement in science, religion, civilization, human rights etc. There is no excuse for imprisoning a woman for 8 years for drinking from a cup and having her under a death sentence. Then when the sentence is lifted, protests in the streets. One would think just from a humanitarian perspective you would oppose this but you seem to embrace the Islamic discrimination and punishment of women and make excuses for it. Is this the bigotry of low expectations of those practicing Islam from you? Hmmm.
Your religious bigotry and intolerance is well known by anyone on this sight Greg. What don't you try a little of your leftist talking points. How about some tolerance, love, acceptance of those that may be different than you or is that beyond your tolerant liberal capabilities?
