One thing that we learned early in law school was "the spirit and intent of the law". What was the spirit and intent of the 14th Amendment? To grant citizenship to slaves, those who had been brought to America against their will. The fact that it has been used to grant citizenship to those born here to non-citizens is an interpretation of that law that is subject to judicial test. The President in signing such an executive order opens the path to the courts where the issue may be rightfully decided.

I hope it is decided CPT Jack Durish for I do not believe that people who come here illegally and have children should have citizenship granted to those children.
