Hey where are they paying 500 dollars per exam? Is that per DBQ? regards quality of exam I think that there was a big problem back when the VA southern region) was using Residents to do these exams. Docs in training. Problem with this is no practical experience. Plus they had little time to spend with veterans. I have personally challenged prior exams with more thorough findings. VES does have fair reimbursements for the work done but unfortunately it isn't that high. Here are some ideas for the next filing and appointment. If you are being seen for a number of conditions ensure that the VA records are up to date. This is a big problem when private docs are involved. You have to take control here and ensure they get the info to the VA (remember it is a large bureaucracy and not fast). Keep copies of new stuff that is relevant and bring them with you. We have a mechanism to get them in if the VA has not done it yet. Once the exam is done and research completed we submit and VES has their QM people go over the submissions looking for errors etc. They provide a great service helping clinicians get the wording right for the VA committee who reviews the cases. Never forget, documentation in the military medical record is vital. If it isn't there the argument for compensation becomes quite difficult. There are ways to make the point with letters of testimony etc but medical records are the best. Finally tell your active duty colleagues to spend the extra time and carefully document issues following deployments and especially on their separation exams. That is also a critical issue. Tell them not to listen to the BS about "if you put it down it may hold up your separation". I hope this helps.

SSgt Stacey Crawford - your spam is nauseating. I had 3 evals scheduled through VES. 2 were for re-evals, as I was claiming an increase. And the other was for a new claim of ptsd. THANKS to the great physicians I saw, my original rating of 40% was increased to 60%. Then my rating of ptsd put me at a total 90%. And I did everything by myself, with no outside help. I found the local veterans office was just a scam. They didn't help jack. So feel free so stop your copy/pasting of mumbo-jumbo. Seems to me, people who have such trouble with their claims, are the type of people who are trying to get money from the VA for problems that don't really exist.

I filed a claim for immune dysfunction due to chemical exposure. Ves sent me to a skin care specialists. Holy smokes.... we getting ripped off left and right!

I just went through a revaluation which lasted 15 minutes, waste of time as more time was spent on my drive there. The Examiner was like a robot, asking questions and never letting me finish my answer.

My question to you. When a Veteran is having a C&P exam for a "rated" service connected condition how should that Veteran respond to questions outside that Veterans expertise? The reason I ask is I have had 4 exams and when I am asked question that have been addressed by the Drs treating my conditions should a Veterans say_ I would refer you to my treating doctor's comments in my records? Our treatment records have opinion of skilled Drs, we on the other hand are uneducated with the issues we are being asked. Question? A examiner may ask how has PTSD impacted you? Why not refer to the treatment records recorded by a Doctor skilled to make the observation we may not be aware? A little example the examiner ask as I entered his office "How are you today?" To me that is a common greeting and I answered "Good how about you". He noted in the exam "Veteran says he feels good". Had I know the question would be recorded I would have responded differently. I do not respond to a greeting with a list of conditions, such as, I feel like shit, the worst day of my life, "Hi, today I am thinking of XXXXX." "Hi my GAF is running about 35"

One question asked by the examiner_ I did answer by referring to my treatment records with a Drs opinion on the question asked_ bad answer,

So to repeat the question how should Veterans respond to an examiners questions that requires a degree to answer properly?

the VA lied to me about my test results and sent me to one of you. Not much they could say. The VA will twist your words and denied us anyhow. You are about to meet a lot of broken neglected people you won't be able to help. Tell them to not to trust the VA. That the Best advice you can give them.

Barbara Maxwell, I live in Arizona City and I went to a VES appointment about a month ago for my back and I haven't seen anything on myhealthevet showing they have submitted anything. I messed up my back pretty bad when I was in a military school in 2013 and I was medically retired because of it in 2015 after 16 years of service. I have a rating of 20% for it and the VA says they won't increase it. I have submitted notices of disagreement several times and I keep getting the same result. Nothing. I went to the DAV to get help and they don't seem to have gotten anything accomplished either. So then I did this VES thing and I haven't seen them do much of anything either. I am currently unemployed and I am about to lose my home because I can't make the mortgage payments on 20% disability at a price tag of $281 a month. Noone wants to hire a 48 year old man with a busted back. What else can I do?

SGT James Korgel - DAV in my area are horrible, so I understand how you feel. Today I experienced a soup sandwich discussion while speaking to a supervisor from VES who did not understand the concept of common sense and humility. Contact your Congressman for assistance, or hire an attorney. Good luck.

I believe as you do it is more a scam then others are doing for it is just to make it look good for congress that the VA is really doing something when all it is for them a way to reduce our ratings and take away some of the benefits of C & P reduce it 10 percent and it cuts our comp to half as much so do that to all the 100 percent disabled veterans and you have saved the government 1/2 the budget to the VA. Then the big shots at the VA will get bonus checks for doing a great job for knew someone that knew a person that was a big shot in the VA and got hold of him and less than a week later I was at 90 percent and paperwork to put in for 10 percent unemployability and got that being paid at 100 percent. It is not right that they don't do it for others but will not go that route again but it seems it is who you know or who you wind! That they don't have to do us veterans that way but they do and there are some that lie about conditions but there are some that have to work thru the pain for the VA cuts their ratings and don't have enough to live on. I will not live in my car but on state land living off the game I shoot and if they catch me then put in jail 3 meals a day, tv, medical, dental, etc all paid for by the state or federal government. I did not ask for my health conditions but got them by serving our country and sometimes wish I had left the states for I would have gotten drafted and be dead now most likely for Army sent me notice to report one month after I had joined the Navy. That is the government for you always late and slower than a snail.

I want you all to know that the CP examiners work with the VA to deny your claims. The VA does not want to pay you. The examiners make 500+ for every exam they complete on a veteran. What im saying is not speculation it is FACTS. Their job is to DENY you. I have seen DBQs which have stated lies and something completely opposite of what the examiner told the vet. The system is designed to fail you.
