It's not a very long DZ, but look how wide it is! (Old joke at Ft Bragg about the Air Force lining up on Sicily DZ (about 2 miles long) wrong and flying across the width instead of the length)

I bet that was an interesting report the DACO has to file. SGT (Join to see) There is no way that was a Pathfinder mishap. Most likely a CARP error. No way they are doing a VIRS drop for a HMMWV as far as I know.

In my day Sir, 1974 Bragg DZ, the pathfinders dropped our whole battalion in the trees. I landed by the pathfinders at the edge of the trees and almost hit the side of the 2 1/2 truck, right over it.
As I left the area, the battalion full bird and CSM were walking up to the pathfinders, and the CSM bleeding on the face from the trees, with the full bird yelling, " Who the F&ck is in charged of this screwed up unit?"
Out of 69 jumps, only that one we hit the trees, even in Panama, we jumped off shore over water and the pathfinders there got the battalion in the DZ.
It just depends on who is giving the directions to drop.
The picture is of the DZ in Panama.

I wouldn't mine if the Army dropped a Humvee in my back yard, then off to the hills. Lol
