Baby Boomers were frowned upon for hopping around with jobs. These days, it is expected to show more experience. Secondly, the discovery of income gaps with the IT world of job hoppers became more eveident in the late ‘80s-‘90s, so folks discovered that to get more than a 2-3% pay raise with their current company, they were better off leaving for a 10-15% increase elsewhere. I watched while I was in and when I got out, did the same! Company’s these days aren’t giving large enough increases yearly to keep up with the economy. So you almost have to change jobs with company’s to get a good pay raise!
