How can anyone not know, when they enlisted in the military that they would not be deployed...that is one part of your duties, as a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, or Airman. "I didn't join to deploy, but for the college benefits" is not an excuse. I know sometimes it's not fair; it appears that some people never deploy due to circumstances or types of units assigned to, and others redeploy after getting home.

The needs of the Military have always come first wherever they need You it has been the practice to send You there. Deployments are certainly a big part of current Military service and it depends of service members that can be sent where they are needed. This isn't anything new and isn't for everyone, if it doesn't fit the bill for an individual then maybe another occupation in the civilian sector would fit better. If not being able to deploy was caused by a Service Members duties during His Military service that however should be considered but the individual case would need to be looked at. In fairness though all serving Members are subject to deployment, that should be understood and applied without anyone getting special treatment and not being required to deploy.
