In this day and age, it still amazes me the lack of knowledge about firearms and school safety. You don't have to arm every teacher in a school. You take volunteers, train them, make it known that there are armed staff at the school. You don't have to identify who they are.
As to the police shooting teachers, make sure there is a method to identify the teachers that are armed in a shooting scenario, one that will immediately identify them to police.
It is ludicrous to continue to not protect our children.

I think the best COA is to shelter in place and protect the kids. The armed teacher(s) Task is to remain in their classroom. Once you get teachers in an active role you open up fratricide probabilities.

LTC (Join to see) in most districts that I have read about, the armed teacher does shelter in place. I do seem to recall there are a few others where certain ones actually head toward the shooting, but it is not the actual classroom teachers.
Personally, I would like to see a government grant employ 2-3 combat veterans as resource officers for each school.

Cayle, I have strong feelings about this and feel like I am somewhat a SME on this. I have spent 20+ as a Special Operations Officer, Taught School, and carried concealed in many different environments. The over simplified mission is keep our kids safe, if that means giving those charged with that awesome responsibility a gun, okay do it. But with that act comes an implied task of train train train.

I would volunteer to help a school for no pay. That help would include the type of training etc... It would include much more than shooting a piece of paper and getting a go.

I believe that the majority of school districts that have gone that route also incorporate training that includes scenarios. And from what I have read, the training is ongoing.

Arming schools and other protective measures should be the norm. This shouldn't be a story as everyone should be doing it.
