I can’t speak for Korea because I didn’t serve there. I did serve in Germany some time, and compare refoger’s to some of the exercises that occur in Korea; that I have spoken with other soldiers… who did serve in Korea about. I don’t think anybody really thinks postponing some exercises a year or so is going to really degrade the ability of our forces much. Maybe I am mistaken.
So why did General Abrams say so? I believe ne of 2 reasons: maybe he needed votes of Democrats on the committee, and was given permission to say some items Democrats would like to hear to get votes (that never happens, right :) Or maybe this is what he actually believes, in which case he will probably never see his next star. We will see.
