Once again it shows the falsehood of the right yelling about "voter fraud" when it simply is not true.

BTW, if my father were alive today, he would probably not be allowed to vote. He had no birth certificate. He served 4 years in the Army during WWII, fighting and being wounded in Italy.
But, no means to prove he was a US citizen.
Voter fraud? Fake issue.

SFC (P) Palmer U. - Sarge, if anyone could show facts that proved any measurable amount of voter fraud, I could possibly support such laws, but since no one can, I do not.

SFC (P) Palmer U. - Of course there are a few scattered cases. More probably due to paperwork errors than intention, but I acknowledge there are a few cases. And ID laws won't change that because any document can be forged.

SFC (P) Palmer Utley - Yes you're going to have small samples of voter fraud to include those that intentionally voted fraudulently for Republicans. But the widespread allegations like 3 million fraudulent votes in California in 2016 is absurd.
Also, not everyone has a passport (not everyone travels), not everyone has a state ID like a drivers license (especially senior citizens) or conceal carry license. Thankfully the new VA card is a photo ID cause there is absolutely zero reason a veteran ID should ever be rejected which makes the story of this Korean War vet even more atrocious. Eighty-six year old voting for over 50 years suddenly told his identity is no good in TX is just unacceptable.

"So here are some things you would need a picture ID for"...this is in response to the original post (I enjoy being blocked):
1. Passport to enter other countries and the US (legally)....Not everyone has a passport nor travels overseas.
2. To drive....not everyone drives especially senior citizens or big city folks that commute.
3. To purchase tobacco...not everyone smokes and some of us orders cigars online so no showing a photo ID there.
4. To purchase alcohol...not everyone drinks.
5. To enter military installation...not everyone needs to access an installation and it's only been since 9/11 since that requirement came back for every military installation.
6. To cash a check...in the age of direct deposit and phone app deposits, this is very old school.
7. To write a check...uh is this like needing a picture ID to buy groceries.
8. To make a purchase with a credit card (not so much now, but when I was in Tennessee they always asked at the store)...most stores don't even enforce this anymore; yet they should with all the identity theft these days.
9. To purchase a gun (at least in my state)...as if that's the real issue when it comes to who can buy a gun legally.
10. To get on an Airplane....you mean to get through the security checkpoint. Once at the gate you only need a valid ticket.

We need a photo ID to do a lot of things that are a privilege and not a right. We don't need a photo ID to do a lot of things that are a privilege not a right. I'll say it again and again, fixed the voter registration system where when one registers a vote, their identity, citizenship, and proof of residence is verified; then upon verification they received an official voter photo ID for that state. It's all one process.
There is zero reasons to shut down polling stations when election officials can see a long line of voters waiting for their turn to vote. No potential voter should be denied their right to vote because they are having issues in the polling station. ZERO!

Very disturbing. I wish more people were concerned.
