This is one of the reasons why I don't favor tearing down statues or changing history to fit a narrative
"I feel compelled to not only make [my students] aware of it, but to also explain the importance of research and knowing your history, knowing your town — the good, the bad, all of that." - extend that concept to state and nation and the students might learn a thing or two.
My daughter's history class did not cover the American Revelation War - yet the class was called American History - good bad and ugly - if we can learn from it seems we would be better off.
