A US-led Indo-Pacific alliance against China is an outdated idea

I mostly disagree with this one. The author states, "...Washington may need to think about designing a new vision for Asia", but then offers no real alternative. His ideas to "avoid ideological conflict, accept the region's realities, set aside or solve sovereignty disputes and focus on the hard-nosed issues of economic development" would hand China the entire South China Sea, the Sea of Japan, and hegemony over the entire of East Asia. Only by coming together and recognizing their common interests in combating Chinese incursions to their sovereignty and economic development (ie, fishing, oil production) can East Asian nations resist the Chinese Borg. Setting aside sovereignty disputes and accepting the new norm of Chinese bullying sounds a lot like Neville Chamberlain.
