You know, it used to be I was enamored with and ate up everything about NASA and the space program. Then we got rid of the Apollo program, Skylab, Shuttle program, etc. I think a lot of people lost interest. Space is an inherently dangerous place to go to and work. Space exploration also has the potential to keep our "species" going through the ages. Hopefully, it doesn't take a tragedy to get people to start paying attention to these efforts.

I think a lot of people lost interest after Pres Bush announced the cancellation of the aging shuttles, but I was working there, and we were sure we were going to build more. It didn't happen, because the price tag was just too steep. Another thing we did was cut back on funding for education, and without it I'm convinced we will never get kids psyched about space. Without the future people who want to go into space and vote to fund space, I had predicted we would not even have a space program one day. I hope their helping fund the commercial venture proves successful so we can keep pushing that way. Thanks for sharing.
