Why Navy SEALs wore blue jeans in Vietnam

I guess I was not paying attention, however, I don't recall ever seeing any Navy folks in Dungarees up in Danang or Dong Ha. We all wore standard fatigues. When I first got to Danang in 1967 I wore Dungarees for the first few days until I got my fatigues, but never after that. As I recall we wanted to blend in rather than stand out and make ourselves targets. On the other hand, maybe it is just faulty memory on my part.
