What Do The EPA's Changes To Asbestos Regulations Actually Mean?
You may have heard the news that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now allowing new asbestos products to enter the market. That’s right, asbesto

Although I can see a rational argument for allowing the use of asbestos (it has useful properties), I do not trust the government to test and regulate it adequately. If it is allowed, I hope that its presence will be well advertised so that consumers have adequate warning to make responsible decisions and that damages/injuries resulting from such uses are quickly identified. I suspect that manufacturers will be more cautious (find alternatives to asbestos) if they are aware that damages/injuries from such use will be quickly adjudicated and damages liberally awarded.

My personal thought it had as much effect to the crews during Vietnam than Agent Orange. A lot of the asbestos covering had tears and some held together with duck tape, I had the ships pipe fitters cover down to our area and cut a hole in the main ventilation and point a goose neck pipe directly at my bunk. The cut opened a lot of asbestos, I would ties a sheet around the bunk and let the air blow in to my self made tent, It looked like I was sleeping in a wind tunnel. I did this because the other Marines were giving me a hard time for using the Admiral's quarters.
The Executive Officer, a Naval Capt, offered it to me and a couple of other things if I would make a 2nd deployment with him to Vietnam, He retired as the highest decorated Admiral in Navy history, I had high respect for him. and we worked well together.
Got to share a funny story when our ship returned to the states before the crew was allowed to leave the ship to visited family and finds. All departments and divisions were in formation on the dock. The XO and myself were standing the the top of the officers brow looking at this spectacular sight. He said to me our crew has done an excellent job this deployment and I think we should make this Capt inspection go fast, When we reach the dock you inspect all departments to left I will take the departments to the right. We cut the inspection in half.
Asbestos should have been classified presumptive exposure,
