Canada's Defense budget is about 1% of GDP. I was at Canada's biggest exercise called Maple Resolve 2 months ago. It cost$ 40 million and 1200 Americans (about half from 4th BDE, 25th ID Alaska) and the remainder were USAR and some USMC.
4000 Canadian Forces soldiers participated.

The Air Force from South Dakota could lose a couple more so the Canadian military has some.
