No, we are not at war, but with friends like the EU who needs enemies? Keep in mind that the EU is not a government in the same manner that we ordinarily think of governments. The EU is a conglomeration of bureaucrats regulating the member nations with rules rather than laws. And, although the member nations are not socialists, the EU governs them as would a socialist bureaucracy. The result is exactly what you might expect in a socialist nation. Producers are taxed to support the non-productive citizens and every aspect of commerce is regulated.

And how does any of that make them foes to the United States, If they are foes we have ZERO allies and friends, trumps version of America first seems to be 'America alone"

This is a photo OP. Putin has Domestic ratings to keep up. The Crimean annexation is a distraction just like invading the Falklands was for corrupt Argentina.

Yes, not to mention that the Ukraine was building a bunch of ships for export so they have a couple frigates that are now part of their Navy stolen from Crimea that were for export. Yes, this is been a big Cash Cow for Russia. Russia though is still could be in Jeopardy economically with all the sanctions the US and the European Union put on Russia since the illegal acquisition of Crimea.

Sgt Woods is right, the Crimea attack gave Russian far more military flexibility, frighted those it wanted to frighten and gave them significant logistical and economic advantages, they did not murder all those people JUST for a show.
