Words matter. Just saying that puts me at odds with the "expert", S. I. Hiyakawa, who opened his famous book, Language In Thought and Action" with the assertion that there is no magic in words. Well, I suppose there isn't if you don't know what words mean. That being as it may, I have often described myself as a Liberal to the chagrin of those on the Progressive Left who have usurped the term to hide their collectivism (which is the enemy of liberalism). I am liberal in my love of individual liberty. I am liberal with my time and wealth in helping others. I am, in a word, "Liberal" and offended by those who hide their anti-liberal ideology because they fear the reaction of people to the spawn of their illiberal ideas; communism, socialism, fascism, Nazism, et al
