MAJ Bryan Zeski It will be interesting to watch the UK's response and of course Putin's denial.

How could 2 ordinary Brit's get in to something like that in their normal daily travels? I hope the British police can figure that out.

SGT (Join to see) Short version: Russia poisoned someone it thought was a spy using a nerve agent that was on some kind of object. This isn't an instantly noticeable agent - so it takes some time to get into someone's system and then kill them. The target of the attack handled something that had nerve agent on it. Then, unknowing that they had been attacked, they just threw that object away. The collateral damage is the people who are victims now.

If no one took on the Russians after the "annexation" of the Crimean peninsula I doubt anyone is going to launch a strike over something like this. Do you think the US Congress would vote on and pass a declaration of war against Russia based upon this attack? I'm guessing no.
Have the Brits declared war? Called for a meeting at NATO HQ to demand action? No on both counts.
Are you actually advocating for a shooting war in Eastern Europe and into Russia over this?

The Budapest Memorandum and U.S. Obligations
On the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the Budapest Memorandum, Steven Pifer, one of the negotiators of that document, writes that it is time for the Unites States to make good on the security assurances it made to Ukraine. Doing so could prevent future nuclear proliferation.

Cpl Jeff N. I didn't advocate anything. I asked the question. Where's the line between acceptable assassination of US citizens (or as collateral damage on US soil) and not-acceptable actions? If we knew that Russia was assassinating people in the US, would we do something about it? If Russia were poisoning restaurants and locations in DC that were frequented by Congressmembers, would we do something about it?
That's the question. And then, if we DID decide to do something, would NATO be obligated under Article V to assist?
If these attacks continue to happen in Britain, would the US follow through on Article V agreements to support an attack?
