My thing is, that companies like Triumph can sell bikes here for like 8-10 thousand dollars cheaper than a comparable Harley. When I was in the United Arab Emirates, the Harley shop was selling American made Harley's for 10 grand less than what we pay here. They told me I could ship it home and would only have to change the headlight, tail lights and muffler to make it street legal in the States. If Harley can make them cheaper here in the States and ship them overseas with just a few minor parts, why can't we get them here for that price?

PO2 Kevin Parker - I don't know if I said on RP or FB, but the MoCo knows that many of us (not me) will pay full price for an antiquated product just to get the name. Even through the AAFES program the only break is a free 3 year maintenance program. Pretty much BS, so I passed. You are right, you can by a Euro-spec bike and change lights and mph speedo and be good to go. Some times emissions need modded as well.
I'm always good with a good used HD over new.

I see this move as making the product Globally. Why not produce over there to keep prices down . While still maintaining infrastructure here. Besides Harley Davidson was planning on making this move due to lack luster sales. Just us old farts want to ride em .... LOL ! The young ones can't or don't want to spend their hard earned money on a very expensive product. Thanks for sharing TSgt David L. . I didn't know Polaris was thinking about this move.

Yeah, I too believe this is just a ploy to keep Americans from buying Harley's in the States. When AMF bought Harley, they outsourced the parts to Japan, and sales took a nose dive because it was not made in America. Harley's sell for a ton of money in Europe. They also buy American Muscle cars. They have the money over there, and they want American technology over there. Harley was going to Thailand, not they decided to go to Europe because of Trump making it a fair playing field for American products in Europe. If i was still in the Air Force, I would try to get stationed in Germany and take over one Harley and one muscle car so I could come back with a Mercedes Turbo-Diesel.
