From Google:
A troubled history
Venezuela has huge water resources, but in the wrong place. According to official estimates, 85% of water resources are located in the south-east of the country, home to only 10% of the population. By contrast, only 15% of water resources are in the rapidly urbanised north of the country where the bulk of the population lives.

Yup... and Russia is energy deprived because the rivers are all slow-moving across wide, flat prairie (not feasible to dam them)...

Once again Socialism is proving it doesn't work and never has ! How anyone could be stupid enough to want that form of Government I find hard to understand. Venezuela is a good example of how poorly it works, those that benefit are the Government leader who make themselves wealthy at the expense of everyone else. Why put money into public projects that You can steal and keep for Yourself ? I would think its a matter of time before the population rises up against this corruption and power in the hands of just a few .! With the natural resources Venezuela has they by all rights should be a wealthy country.
