As a former career law enforcement officer, I could see this coming, so I’m not very surprised. The SCOTUS has been “crimping our style” since Miranda v. Arizona in 1967. Some of the legal edicts have been necessary, some have not been. I can expect police will see more and more tweaking of their crime-fighting abilities well into the future.
The way things are heading, police will eventually need permission from their mayor, or county executive, or governor to take a 10-81. A 10-82 will undoubtedly take prior written approval!!!
Damn glad I’m retired!!!
